EACS ‘raises the steaks’ in beef sector and adds to local charity funds

At the EACS Awards evening held recently at Tandragee Golf Club a raffle and auction were held and a total of £1205 was raised in aid of the Northern Ireland Children’s Cancer Unit Fund.
The European Angus Cattle Society is indebted to the various companies and individuals who donated raffle prizes for the charity gala event.
On the night Moira-based Hannan Meats was named supreme champion whilst Millar Meats from Irvinestown won all three classes in the under-15 employee category.
Commenting on the Awards, Society Secretary, Harry McGaffin said, “This inaugural event was extremely well supported and as an organisation we are delighted with the support that we received, both for the competition and our chosen charity.”
Entries are already being sought for the 2012 event. Open to farmers, butchers, retailers and processors the competition is staged in two categories and three classes in a bid to find the best Fillet steak, Sirloin steak and Rib-eye steak in Northern Ireland.
