Great Taste Awards for those who have Great Taste!

European Angus Steak Tasting Competition winners, Hannon Meats and Millar Meats, have been making the headlines again – this time in the 2011 Great Taste Awards organised by the Guild of Fine Food.

The Great Taste Awards are looked upon as food and drink’s equivalent to a Michelin Star and with Moira-based Hannon Meats picking up a record 14 awards – one ‘3 star’, six ‘2 star’ and seven ‘1 star’ that can most certainly be classed as a star performance!

Millar Meats from Irvinestown achieved two stars for Co. Fermanagh home reared Sirloin.
And just for the record En Place Foods, Cookstown, an associate company of Hannon Meats picked up three ‘1 star’ awards.

The Guild of Fine Food is the UK trade association for anyone making or selling top quality local regional and speciality foods.

The Awards are completely independent and a major accolade.

Experts, including key buyers, retailers, chefs and food journalists, blind taste entries to ensure they are fairly and independently assessed.

For 2011 more than 7,400 products were judged over an intense two-month period.
