Young bull tops European Angus classes at Castlewellan Show

15th July 2013

A young bull, Bluebell Bank Black Lord Labyrinth belonging to Hugh Dickson and family from Moneyrea, took top spot in the European Angus classes at the Castlewellan Show being named Champion and winner of the Tughan Cup.

A young heifer, Aughnagurgan Elisa, belonging to David Lester from Armagh was named Reserve Champion.

Putting Bluebell Bank Black Lord Labyrinth through his paces in the parade ring on the day was Hugh Dickson’s son, William.
The Dickson family was absolutely delighted with the result with Bluebell Bank Black Lord Labyrinth going one better than at the recent Balmoral Show where the young bull was named Reserve Champion.

And it was a real family affair on the day with a second bull belonging to the Dickson family, led into the parade ring by Hugh’s granddaughter Tiffinee Dickson, taking second place in the bull class.

Winner of Class 190, cow any age in calf or with calf at foot, was Kiltariff Lady Jemima belonging to Andrew Magowan and family from Rathfriland. The Magowans also won Class 193, the bull or heifer calf born in 2013 class with a young heifer, Bannwater Lady Roxy taking the honours.

Judging of the European Angus classes at Castlewellan was by Dessie Martin from Saintfield.
