Celebrations planned for European Angus Open Day and Young Handlers’ event

19th August 2013

It’s celebration time for European Angus Cattle Society members and friends as it stages its annual Young Handlers’ event and Open Day this Saturday, 24th August.

“The inaugural event was held last year to launch our beef scheme and one year on we, in association with our supply chain partner, Hannan Meats, have considerable cause for celebration having just been awarded 12 Gold Stars on five Euro Angus beef products in the Great Taste Awards, which have just been announced,” explained  Secretary Harry McGaffin.

Once again the Open Day and Young Handlers’ event is being staged at Harry McGaffin’s farm at Ballymacanallen Road in Gilford.
European Angus cattle will be on show both inside and outside the Parade Ring and the Young Handlers will compete for silverware.

A workshop will be held prior to the event to provide young Society Members with tips on handling techniques and on the grooming and clipping of cattle.

The Irish Beltex Club are taking a stand at the Open Day and will have sheep on display.
Boar goats will also be on show and a barbecue will be held with proceeds going to the ‘Make a Wish’ Charity Foundation.
The event, which will be signposted from the main Gilford to Banbridge Road, takes place from 2.00pm – 5.00pm this Saturday, 24th August and everyone is welcome.

For directions contact Harry McGaffin on 0771 558 4887 or Alan Bailie on 07517 463460.

Young Handlers will be out in force at the European Angus Cattle Society Open Day being held this Saturday on Harry McGaffin’s farm in Gilford.
