Lifetime achievement award for European Angus AGM speaker Derek Shaw

28th October, 2013

It’s very much a case of congratulations as this year’s European Angus AGM speaker Derek Shaw came in for major recognition at the annual Farming Life and Danske Bank Awards, picking up a well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award.

More than 270 people including Agricultural Minister, Michelle O’Neill and Finance Minister, Simon Hamilton, attended the black tie gala event which was held at the Ramada Hotel in Belfast on October 24.

Now into their third year the awards are very much recognised as a celebration and recognition of the people who play a major part in the success of the agricultural industry.

Derek Shaw was this year’s guest speaker at the European Angus Cattle Society AGM held at the Ballinderry Inn in Moira back in April and his presentation on the night provided considerable insight into the Gilford man’s leadership qualities.

As a Director and board member of the North Australian Pastoral Company Derek has been at the forefront of beef farming activities on the world stage.
NAPCO is a large, privately owned Australian cattle company which manages in the region of 240,000 cattle, including calves, and over the years Derek has played an important role in producing an ideal composite breed for the region.

The Farming Life and Danske Bank awards very firmly recognise the wealth of knowledge and experience that we have here in Northern Ireland.

Well done Derek!
