Irvinestown-based Millar Meats is to sponsor the European Angus classes at this year’s Allams Christmas Show & Sale which is being staged at the Royal Ulster Agricultural Society Showgrounds, Balmoral on Tuesday, 25th November.
“We are absolutely delighted to have Millar Meats on board and their sponsorship of our classes is greatly appreciated,” said European Angus Cattle Society secretary, Harry McGaffin. “Proprietor Stephen Millar has long been an advocate of European Angus cattle and with Allams being recognised as the Province’s premier Christmas Show and Sale there is no better platform for the promotion of excellent farm quality assured beef bred cattle.”
Details of the sponsorship were finalised during a recent visit to the farm of European Angus Cattle Society member Hugh Dickson in Moneyreagh when it was also announced that the Society would be sponsoring the Champion and the Reserve Champion in the EA classes.
Meanwhile, Carnlough-based farmer Ivan McMullan is presenting for sale 18 top quality black Euro Angus breeding heifers at Ballymena Livestock Market on Friday, 3rd October.
“Weighing in the region of 500-550kg this is a unique opportunity to purchase excellent suckler replacements,” said Ivan. “The cattle, which can all be traced back to British Friesian or Pure Lim cows, are extremely docile and have superb fleshing ability.”
Approximately 80% of Ivan McMullan’s own cows are European Angus bred.
